20 Fun-tastic Ways to Keep Little Fingers and Minds Busy this Summer!

The Summer holidays are usually the highlight of the year for our little family as it’s not only #kidsoutforthesummer, but as my Husband and I both work in education, it’s our #playtime too!

As I’m not usually one for winging it, I do like to have some fun ideas to hand to keep us busy – especially now we also have a nine month old to entertain (and I’m usually so sleep deprived that my brain struggles to think on the spot, if I’m honest!).

So, I’ve made a list of some of our top activities that can be spread out across the Summer, because we all know that the idea of entertaining the kids for six week after months of being cooped up (#lockdown) seems a little bit more daunting this time!

These activities can be used as fun ideas to combat boredom on a cloudy day, or like me, you can plan ahead and pick a few activities each week as starting points. I’m sure your littles ones will run away with the ideas! It would be great to hear about your experiences. Head over to our Instagram account for more ideas.

Enjoy!

Here are our top 20 go-to ideas:

1. Puppet theatre- make puppets of the characters from a story and put on a show!

2. Create a home cinema experience – Encourage children to design and create tickets..they can even practise using money by selling refreshments!

3. Make a story box/diorama of a scene from their favourite book by decorating an old box – be creative!

4. Make your own playdough- try adding a flavouring like peppermint or lemon for a delicious scent

5. Keep a weather diary
