A super fun and engaging phonics activity that can be adapted really easily to suit your child’s needs. What a great way to learn through play!
You can:
- Practise segmenting (sounding out) and blending (putting the sounds together) with smaller high frequency words, e.g. at, up, it, if, on
- Build longer CVCC or CCVC words, e.g. sand, lamp, stop, flip
- Spell tricky words, e.g. the, she, was, out
- Use the cars to create and spell polysyllabic words, e.g. sandpit, laptop

How?
- Draw a roadmap with several carparks. The amount of parking spaces depends on the length of words that your child will be practising to segment and blend. Remember to involve your child in the designing of the carpark. They’ll love it!
- Write out the letters that your child will need for word building.
- Stick the letters onto the cars.
- Ready, set, go!
